CCTV Installations – What’s Involved?
If you’re thinking about getting CCTV for your home or business, and are curious about the process of having it fitted, here’s what to expect.
On the Day
Your Securico CCTV sales representative will have already agreed with you a date and time. And on the day of installation we’ll narrow that down by calling you as early as we can to let you know when your installers are estimated to arrive.
Pre-installation
Upon arrival of our engineers, they won’t ask for coffee, they’ll already be fired up and ready to go! So the first step will be to discuss with you the position of your cameras. Our installers will walk with you around your property and agree the camera positions and offer any advice they feel may be useful, for example to avoid any blind spots. They’ll also discuss the routing of cabling for the cameras.
The location of your digital video recorder (DVR) box will also be discussed to find you a suitable and accessible spot.
Once all of this has been discussed, we’ll ask you to sign confirmation of the agreed camera and DVR positions, and our engineers will get to work.
Post-installation
On completion of the cameras installation and cabling, our team will configure the DVR to work with your internet connection. Devices such as PC, smartphone, tablet or Mac will now be ready to work with the CCTV system.
In some cases they’ll coordinate with our remote technical support team to setup other options.
Our on-site team will then walkthrough the basics of using the system, and if required they will handover the set up and walkthrough of more advanced features to our tech support team. The tech support team in those cases will remotely configure features such as line crossing / motion detection exactly to your requirements. This will be done over the phone and remotely via your computer.
The site engineers will clean up after themselves and be on their merry way to install another CCTV system.
Aftercare
After installation, we don’t just leave you there. We’ll send you a Quick Start Guide by email which documents the essential use of the system. You also have technical support available five days a week to assist with everything from problems using the system to troubleshooting other issues.
We’ve great confidence in our systems and installations team, but sometimes, as with all technology, there can be failures. In the event of a breakdown of the supplied hardware, your on-site warranty means we’ll arrange a site visit to replace any faulty equipment.
We’re with you all the way, from your requirements, to the installation, to the aftercare, just get in touch at any stage of the process. We’re on your side.
